Scott Allen, the NPRA's Announcer of the Year, sits astride his horse at the end of the first day of the 55th annual rodeo in Spray, Oregon.

Scott Allen's career as a sales trainer brought him to the world of professional rodeo announcing about six years ago. While recruiting and training announcers, Scott realized that it would be a lot more fun to do the announcing himself.

His selection as the Northwest Professional Rodeo Association's Announcer of the Year has validated that decision. His easy patter, baritone voice, and presence in the arena - along with his attention to detail and friendly nature - are all good indicators of why Allen was selected. Since this honor is conferred by the contestants, it's easy to see why Scott exhibits modest pride in this title.

Scott's ranch in Merrill, Oregon is where he can be found between rodeos. So far this year, he's scheduled to announce 30 rodeos with about 128 performances.
